As a typical Pinoy, I know you will agree with me.... when it comes to choosing the right salon for you, you need a YES to these 3 categories:

  • you must trust your stylist.  He/she must be your BFF when it comes to your hair needs.  Not just any other stylists who will push a certain hairstyle or hair color because its uso or expensive
  • your stylist must be an expert.  Hey, your hair is your crowning glory, you don't want any mediocre stylist touching it!
  • Budget friendly.  I am a WiseMom, and need to be always wais.  Salon services need not be that expensive. You just have to know where to go for the best deal.

And this is the great news I have for you my dear mommy readers.... I got invited to the opening of new salon in the Greenhills area.  And so far.... it fits the 3 categories I mentioned above.  And I am so excited about the discovery!

You might ask... who is Nikki Bacay?

Nikki Bacay has been in the hairstyling industry for almost two decades.  A native from Mindoro, Nikki went to Manila and discovered his talent in haircutting. While working at a high-end salon, a client saw his potential and he was offered international training to hone his craft.

In 2000, he went to HongKong and trained how to cut and color through Pivot Point Training Center.  By 2001, he was already reaping rewards for his cutting and coloring techniques which include The L'oreal Color Trophy and the Philippine Hairdresser of the year. In 2008, German salon brand Schwarzkopf Professional chose Nikki to become their ambassador.  Ever since, Nikki has been going to different countries every 6 months to further master his craft.  He has been to Japan, Taipei, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore to update himself with the recent styles and tecniques in CUT and Color.

Nikki is loved by his loyal clients around the Greenhills area because of his beautiful and wearable hair creations.  Using high-end products, Nikki can transform a dull look to a modern wearable style.  He believes that Hair Cutting goes hand in hand with Contour Coloring.   Nikki also analyzes the face shape of the client before he cuts and color. He also asks the client's lifestyle so he can give the perfect cut and color.

During the grand launch... Nikki unveiled some of his most interesting hairstyles using a technique called Camouflage, a burst of colors... but not too obvious!

As a blogger, I am always asked, "what is your niche"?

And I will always answer, "lifestyle".

But as I write this blog entry... I realized that, yes I write about lifestyle subjects, but at the end of the day, my articles will surely focus on my journey as a mom, my relationship with my teens, some challenges in raising them, and the joys of motherhood.

When I was still working as a full time TV writer, admittedly, I suffered from guilt. I had a hard time juggling my work with mommy duties.  Was guilty of bringing the kids to the office, sometimes letting them sleep there until the wee hours of the morning because I am still not finished with work  :(   Or leaving them home alone, because me and my husband is at work and we don't have a helper  :(    Or simply bringing them to work.

But we survived.  We didn't have a choice as a family.  We simply had to adjust and hoped for the best.

Then four years ago, I decided to quit from my regular work and shifted to freelance work. Financially, it was harder.  The kids were 12 and 13 at that time.  I just needed to make a choice. To be with them in their exciting teenage years.  And so far, we are surviving.  We just had to make it work as a family.

to date, this is the most LIKED and SHARED post on my facebook page.
through my FB page, I like to interact with fellow mommies  :)

  1. Generation gap.  It takes a lot of effort to appreciate the things they like. To listen to their kind of music. To deal with youtube videos, that I really don't find funny, but they have a blast watching every single day
  2. Mood swings.  Sometimes they are happy. Sometimes they are just in their room, being all cranky and masungit.
  3. Gadget addiction.  This is a battle I think I am losing!
  4. How to make the demarcation line - mother or BFF.  I've read that you cannot be your kids' bestfriend if you want to raise them well. You need to be a mom, first, and be firm with your decisions on disciplining and parenting rules.  I tell you, this is HARD
  5. How to explain to them the harsh realities of this world.  Especially the violence that is happening around. I would like to believe that my job as a parent is to help my teens cope with life, not shelter them from it.

Last September 6, I was invited to a very interesting afternoon of Mommy-talk. The title was really intriguing -- SUPERMOMS!  Do they exist?  Am I one?

According to Ms. Kristel Urbanski, founder of Glebe House Manila, a mother of two and a teacher, who was one of the two speakers for the SuperMoms Event, "a Supermom is an extremely capable and busy mother."

And as a Supermom, she has special "SuperPowers"!

Leaving your family to work abroad is the common choice for many Filipinos. They choose to work abroad to support their families sacrificing family relationships in the process.  The OFWs learned to live with the harsh reality: suffering from homesickness. They need to stay strong, to support a financial dream.

But what if... OFWs have a choice. Of coming back for good and investing their hard earned money, in their native land?  Isn't that a great choice!

The Global Negosyo Roadshow is a series of local and international events that aims to equip Overseas Filipino Workers with the information, resources and support to create their own business plan for their families back home.  The project showcase various business and investment opportunities and a sustainable program designed to invest in the future and transform OFWs hard-earned money into a family business.

Ms. Judith Mereria, President of Concept Marketing Specialist Inc., serves as the project coordinator of Global Negosyo Roadshow.

Over the years, the roadshow has been brought to different parts of the world in the hope of connecting OFWs with businesses -- Bahrain, HongKong and on September 30 to October 1, 2017, Australia.

Locally, the roadshow has been connecting with OFWs and their families via a Negosyo Expo and Workshop at the SM Malls.

I call my "gang" the BackPack Squad.  I got the monicker when me and my hubby started to train the teens to travel and pack light. The hubby is an expert when it comes to traveling light. But me???  Nah.  I am the "unwise packer".  Lots of clothes, shoes and unnecessary things inside the luggage hehehe  :)
So hubby and I made a pact to teach the kids how to pack wisely. Slowly they're getting the hang of it.  And successfully, in our last two travels (CDO-Camiguin and Palaui), we got what we aimed for -- just one backpack per person.  Yey!

We realized, to be able to achieve this in all our local trips, we need backpacks that are sturdy and durable; big enough for our trips and adventures; compartmentalized for our gadgets like laptops, phones, chargers, cameras;  Yes, we are not only after the so-called tourist spots of a certain location. The BackPack Squad explores and goes on adventure trips!  So we needed the perfect backpacks for all our adventure needs!

For Mrs.Wise's gadgets and personal belongings, Granite Gear's HAULSTED TROLLEY is the wise choice.
