Black Nazarene captured by Canon Philippines

For Mrs.Wise, Quiapo is our go-to-place when someone in the family needs eyeglasses. When we have time to visit this busy place - we also make sure to buy fruits and veggies. I swear the prices here are way cheaper than most markets.

And every Quiapo visit means, a visit to the Quiapo Church. Last Saturday, January 6 (3 days before the feast day of the Black Nazarene) we visited Quiapo to buy some school stuffs for my daughter.  And for the first time, I saw the myriads of Black Nazarene items being sold on the busy streets.

I have yet to witness the Black Nazarene procession.  Laging sa TV ko lang siya nakikita. But based on the merchandise on display, and the shoppers flocking to buy, it is HUGE!

January 7, I got invited to SM City Manila's event that is related to the feast day of the Black Nazarene.

The photo exhibit entitled "CAPTURED", displayed the works of the country's talented photographers.  It  is a joint partnership by Canon Photographers of the Philippines (CPP), Canon Philippines and SM City Manila.

Faith, heritage and history is the highlight of the exhibit.  The event center was filled with warmth as the top 20 finalists were given their recognition on stage.

Present also in the event is Mr. Berny Yu, Canon Consumer Group Division Director and Ms. Sybil Gualberto – Assistant Mall Manager of SM City Manila.  They gave the audience some information about the photo contest and exhibit.

From the 20 finalists, it was Aram Ferdinand Orense who emerged as the grand winner.

Gerald Seguia took home the 1st Runner Up award.

Generous sponsors also joined the event:

From Left to Right (Ms. Maya Ariega-Store - Operations Officer of Caritas Margins Inc., Ms. Sybil Gualberto – AssistantMall Manager of SM City Manila, Mr. Berny Yu - Canon Consumer Group Division Director, Mr. Eric Bagtas - Event Specialist Canon Managing Philippines, Mr. Selwyn Uy - Canon Photographer of the Philippines Admin Head

Visit SM City Manila and experience this exhibit that runs from January 7-19, 2018 at the upper ground floor event center.  And see for yourselves the creative shots of the top 18 finalists namely: Albert Zapanta, Bernard Recirdo, Dennis Jerome Acosta, Derek Ferran, Diego Mariano, Edvard Galima, Jerome Ascano, Jhun Dantes, JM Abcede, Karlo Lomadilla, Kevin Dela Cruz, Mark Tolentino, Marlon Malabuyoc, Michael Loyola, Reniel Jose Castaneda, Ritchel Tecuico, Pet Salvador, Niceron Rofiles -- together with the grand and runner up winners.

Mrs.Wise trip to SM City Manila was also rewarded with a nice surprise, as after 25 years, I saw my college classmate at UST -- now an award winning photographer, and Canon Ph influencer, Ronald  :)

And I realized I forgot to have a photo with you hahaha! Next time uli!
